A Caribbean Mystery, Agatha Christie
The Book
When Miss Marple's nephew, famous author Raymond, sends her to the Caribbean for her health during the winter, she is quickly bored by Major Palgrave who believes he's the best story teller. Spoiler alert, he isn't. Miss Marple's attention wanders while he tells the story of a murderer who has killed his wife twice. Surprise, surprise after we meet the rest of our suspects, he ends up dead. From here Miss Marple has her hands full. Is it one of the Kendalls (Molly and Tim), the owners of the hotel, one of the quadret Edward and Evelyn Hillingdon and Greg and "Lucky" Dyson, the rich old guy Mr. Rafiel, or one of his employees Esther Williams or Arthur Jackson, or Cannon Prescott and his maybe sister Joan Prescott. The island doctor, Dr. Graham isn't much help and the local police are clueless. Only Miss Marple can bring a killer to justice, but can she do it in time?
My Thoughts
You can watch me fall for all of Agatha Christie's shenanigans here: https://youtu.be/wNuizGjN7i4.
Christie is a genius level parallel thinker. Trying to follow and not fall for her plot twists is famously difficult. She knows how to deliver a great plot twist, maximizing confusion to throw her reader off the scent of a killer only to have a great mind unravel the plot.
As far as characters go, I think this one was well rounded out with believable characters and dialog. The situations mostly seem normal. And there have been many as cold blooded murderers out there as the person in this story seems to be.
It's a fun, light, breezy read filled to the brim with Christie's signature style.

How Much My Library Card Saved Me
This book is one of the leatherette editions. It was lightly read with the inside cover saying it had light staining. I felt the book for being at least 30 years old was in excellent condition. In fact, I think this is one of the best investments my library ever made. Good for them.
It exited the card catalog and entered the computer scan system November xx, 2015, well after my library had switched over to the computer scans. I know, because we moved to the area in 2011 and they were already switching over from the card system to the computer scan system. While the kids were little, we went nearly every week to check out books.
We established in earlier editions, with a bit of research, that these books cost approximate $20 each. That's the number we will use for this book.
